How BarForBar Handles Data

BarForBar is built to let you battle, freestyle, and track progress without collecting more than the app needs to run. This page explains what information is used by the current version of the product.

What We Collect

If you sign in with Google, BarForBar stores basic account information such as your display name, email, profile photo, rank, XP, stats, and battle history. The app also stores roast profile answers (real name, age, city, job, relationship status, hobbies, insecurities, appearance details, and embarrassing moments) and other session data needed to personalize battles and show progress on your profile. This data is stored locally on your device.

How We Use It

Your information is used to run battles, personalize AI responses, keep profile stats, save battle history, and make features like ranking, streaks, and session recaps work. We do not use the current app to sell your personal information.

Mic, Camera, and Multiplayer

Microphone and camera access are only used when you choose to turn those features on in supported parts of the app. In the current implementation, live audio and video are used to power active sessions and are not stored by default as permanent recordings by BarForBar.

Third-Party Services

BarForBar currently relies on the following third-party services that process user data:

  • Firebase Authentication (Google) — processes your Google account information for sign-in.
  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — receives your battle bars, roast profile data (name, age, city, job, insecurities, etc.), and session context to generate personalized AI battle responses and disses.
  • ElevenLabs — receives AI-generated text for voice synthesis and text-to-speech playback during battles.
  • Railway — hosts the application backend and multiplayer infrastructure.

These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data they receive.

Your Choices

You can choose not to sign in, avoid using mic or camera features, and stop entering optional roast profile details. If you want to stop using the app, you can use the "Delete My Data" button on your Profile page to erase all locally stored data including your roast profile, battle history, and account information. You can also clear local browser data tied to your session on your device.
